The container truck on Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Highway suddenly rushed to the right, hitting many motorbikes and causing many injuries.

The tragic accident happened on May 3, a container truck driven by a male driver ran on Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Highway, in the direction from Do Xuan Hop Street to Mai Chi Tho Street.

Knowing the incident, Mr. Nghia Pham, a student of Kỹ năng sinh tồn SSVN- Survivalskill Vietnam was present at the scene to help the victims and he hoped that everyone should learn first aid because of its important. The ambulance does not always arrive on time, sometimes simple actions can help a lot of people. Sometimes it is not necessary to do everything correctly, just not doing it wrong (or preventing the people around from doing it wrong) can really help.

Container truck’s tire exploded, hitting many motorcyclists and seriously injuring them.

Who needs to learn FIRST AID? In my opinion, everyone needs to learn first aid.

Like the traffic accident this morning, if I didn’t decide to run to the scene after watching the clip of the accident, everyone would try to carry the victims into a taxi to go to the emergency room.

At home, their family informed that the female victim suffered the most when her left leg was broken, her musculoskeletal opened, and her right arm was broken with many open wounds.

Regarding the male victim, when I checked the position of the spine, he said there was a slight loss of sensation. So, I shouted for everyone to find blankets to gently support his body so that I could move him gently out of the container truck. Currently, his family said that the doctor diagnosed a spinal injury.

The doctors informed the family that the victims were fortunate to receive the right first aid, not carrying the victim away helped to protect the victim’s spine. In fact, the victim’s spine was badly damaged so the right first aid from the beginning helped the victim a lot.

After hearing that information, I felt so thankful that I attended a first aid class. By attending the class, I know that I must prevent people at the scene from carrying the victim to the emergency room. Moving can greatly aggravate the victim’s condition.

Mr. Nghia Pham participated in first aid practice at SSVN Survival Skills.

Regarding the female victim, Mr. Nghia Pham gave her first aid after moving her to a convenient location because she was under the truck, about 10-20cm away from the wheel. She is now reported to be moved to the operating room for the doctor to handle the injuries.

Up to now, the two victims have been temporarily out of danger, hope the best luck will come to both of them.

Recalling everyone’s confusion at the scene, I just hope the local polices or the traffic polices can participate in first aid training. Because they are always the first ones to receive the information and arrive at the scene.

I think everyone should have good first aid knowledge to help our family and people around us. If everyone knows first aid, when an accident happens, we all know how to handle it properly.

Best of all, everyone should learn first aid, so that when an accident occurs, we can support the victim with the RIGHT first aid!

Ms. Linh is one of the victims in the recent accident.

Ms. Linh, a victim of the tragic accident on May 3, was fortunate to be rescued by Mr. Nghia Pham. She shared, ”Thank you very much, Mr. Nghia, for saving me in time. If people carried me to the hospital first, it would be very dangerous.”

Mr. Nghia Pham previously also helped to give first aid to victims of many accidents such as the one in the Hi-Tech Park (Thu Duc). This morning, he continued to apply first aid knowledge taught by Mr. Tony Coffey to give first aid to victims of car accidents in Hi-Tech Park (Thu Duc). When approached, the victim was brought to lie on the sidewalk. When I went to check, the victim was vomiting, but lying on his back, I immediately brought the victim to the recovery position so that if vomiting continued, the foreign body would not go back into the victim’s airway. Then ask for help to keep the victim in that position and continue to check the victim’s wound dressing. Just then the ambulance arrived at the scene and handed over to the professional emergency team. After the nurse checked the victim and saw that the wound was bandaged, the victim was taken to the hospital.

According to first aid expert Tony Coffey,First aid knowledge in Vietnam is still not strong. In Western countries, first aid is learned from an early age.. We realize that, although few people know about this skill, through First Aid classes, many people are more interested and participate more. Learning a basic First Aid class is very easy, any age can participate in learning and practicing, you should equip yourself with first aid knowledge to save yourself, your family and the community.”

Survival Skills SSVN hopes that all Vietnamese are equipped with first aid knowledge to save ourselves and our loved ones in case of life-threatening emergencies.
