Bryan F. McNally, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He holds an undergraduate degree in Meteorology from Cornell University and began his medical career as an Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic serving the Harlem and Washington Heights communities with the New York City Emergency Medical Service. Dr. McNally earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in upstate New York, followed by an internship at Boston City Hospital. He completed his specialty training in emergency medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. He then pursued a two-year fellowship in pre-hospital and disaster/emergency medical services at Boston Emergency Medical Services. He also holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Service Administration from Boston University. Board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. McNally’s areas of expertise include emergency medicine, pre-hospital care, and disaster medicine.

He currently serves as the Executive Director of the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES), a CDC-funded quality improvement program aimed at improving survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the United States.  Additionally, he consults for the Pan Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study (PAROS) and serves on the board of the Asian EMS Council.

Dr. McNally’s international experience includes being a Visiting Professor at Duke National University of Singapore and Bach Mai Hospital/115 Emergency Ambulance Service in Hanoi, Vietnam. Since 2024, Dr. McNally has been working with Survival Skills Vietnam to deliver Collaborative Advanced Trauma Care in blended mode via the SSVN E-learning platform to hundreds of health workers in Vietnam. In 2025, Dr. McNally becomes a technical advisor and lecturer of Survival Skills Vietnam in the fields of emergency medicine, pre-hospital care, and disaster medicine.

Through his work, Dr. McNally has made significant contributions to advancing the science of emergency medical services and improving patient outcomes worldwide.
