Case 1

The first victim was a woman who had a traffic accident with a deep cut that exposed fat and layers. Luckily it didn’t hit an artery so the victim didn’t lose too much blood. Mr. Nghia quickly gave first aid to stop the bleeding, bandaged the wound and checked the victim’s body from the neck to the waist.

Because the knee may be injured, the victim cannot move. While giving first aid, Mr. Nghia instructed the family to dial 115 to call an ambulance. The ambulance arrived at the scene after 21 minutes. When handing over the victim to the professional emergency team, Mr. Nghia reported the exact wound, checked the victim’s neck, along the spine and the condition of the bandaged wound.

Case 2

A few dozen meters from the first aid station, Mr. Nghia continued to assist a drunk man who had collided with a truck. The man’s wound was small but the blood kept flowing.

Mr. Nghia used a strong bandage to cover the wound, then applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. After first aid, he urged the victim’s family to take him to the hospital because the victim had been drinking and was not cooperating.

The above two incidents are typical examples showing the importance of learning first aid. With first aid knowledge and skills, anyone can help others in dangerous situations, even save lives.

Mr. Nghia has many times assisted first aid victims on the road after attending a first aid course with SSVN.

He shared that he did not expect to have the opportunity to practice first aid when learning it, but learning it was necessary so that if he accidentally encountered an injury, he would know how to handle it properly to prevent the wound from getting worse.

“Refuse a coffee date, spend a first aid class to be able to support relatives and friends in case of need,” Mr. Nghia shared.

SSVN would like to thank Mr. Nghia Pham for his bravery and the team of emergency specialists who provided timely support to the victims. The article is reported based on Mr. Nghia Pham’s post on his personal Facebook page.
