What would you do if you suddenly met someone who was unconscious or had a stroke? How would you do if you encountered a bitten person by a snake, had problems with electric shock, drown?

Ta Quang Buu Middle School and High School in collaboration with Survival Skills Vietnam (SSVN) conducted a training program with the topic ” First aid skills, urgent care and exit”

All of those dangerous situations can happen any time in life. However, the reality shows that many people do not know the most basic escape knowledge, making the situation even more complicated. To cope with that situation, on the morning of January 15, Ta Quang Buu Middle School and High School in collaboration with Survival Skills Vietnam (SSVN) conducted a training program with the topic “First aid skills – urgent care and exit” for all students, teachers and staff throughout the school.

Attending the training session, there were Mr. Hoang Xuan Lan – Director of External Relations of BK Holdings Group, representatives of the School Board of Directors, and Mr. Nguyen Van Tho – Vice Principal of Ta Quang Buu Middle School and High School, Mr. Nguyen Canh Luong – Chairman of the School’s Science and Education Council, Ms. Nguyen Bich Huyen – UV of the school’s Board of Directors, and more than 800 students, staff and teachers of the school. The representative of SSVN was Mr. Tony Coffey – Australia’s leading first aid expert; Ms. Trang Jena Nguyen – Program Coordinator, Co-Founder of SSVN.

At the training session, expert Tony Coffey taught first aid skills step by step to help victims in dangerous situations. A victim’s injuries should be assessed for severity and treated accordingly in order of priority to which injury is most life-threatening, and should always begin with ensuring your own safety and those around you before performing first aid actions for the victim.

The order of first aid treatment for victims in an emergency situation would be:

1. Clear the airways;

2. Stop the bleeding;

3. Handle the burns;

4. Handling fractures – cracks;

5. Handle other wounds;

6. Dealing with Shock-related factors.

Along with providing knowledge about risky situations, with clear illustrations for each situation, experts have helped students, teachers, and staff of Ta Quang Buu Middle and High School improve their awareness. knowledge and skills in first aid. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, determining the position of the unconscious victim, how to handle when encountering a victim with a foreign object, how to handle bleeding, broken bones, handling burns, escape plan when encountering fire, … in turn are introduced by experts and meticulously guided each skill. After each tutorial, the students were invited directly to the practice stage, which helped to make the atmosphere of the training more exciting.

Interesting with the expert’s sharing, Ms. Hoang Thu Huong – school office staff said: “Knowledge of these skills is essential in every individual’s daily life. There are skills shared by experts in the training that I agree with because, in fact, we have little or even no awareness of those skills. For example, the skill of observing the exit locations when coming to any place. Because when there is a fire, we only have 2 minutes to get out. If we are not calm and lack skills, we certainly cannot control our emotions to get out of those dangerous situations.The skills learned from the training session will be a useful tool for young people in the future, helping them to react appropriately to dangerous and unexpected situations to minimize unintended consequences. The training session is part of a series of life skills programs for students that are regularly organized by the school, with the aim of providing a fun and exciting learning atmosphere, and training students with many useful life skills.

First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or promote recovery Sometimes this first aid assistance can make the difference between life and death or a victim’s future quality of life.
