Currently, cases of sudden cardiac arrest are increasingly common, not only in the elderly but also in young people. Recently, the emergency department of Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital (HCMC) has continuously received cases of cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest outside the hospital, including many young individuals who did not receive proper first aid.

If they can be admitted and treated in a timely manner, the mortality rate decreases to only 6-10%. However, the ambulances are not always able to arrive in time.

It is very unfortunate if the victims are not given proper first aid by someone who knows how to do it right, as in the case witnessed by Ms. Tu Anh.

I witnessed a healthy driver having a seizure and collapsing from cardiac arrest. If it weren’t for the foreign individuals who accompanied us on the trip and performed CPR to save the driver’s life, he would have passed away. Fortunately, our group had a reason to stop and there were people who knew first aid. As for the Vietnamese individuals on the vehicle (including myself), we only knew how to call for emergency assistance and didn’t know what to do apart from that.“said Ms. Tú Anh.

Understanding the importance of first aid, she immediately registered a first aid course offered by Survival Skills – SSVN (SSVN).

Ms Tu Anh participated in the first aid course offered by Survival Skills – SSVN.

Not only Ms. Tu Anh, according to SSVN’s records, we have received numerous registrations for first aid courses from people of all ages through Elearning, First aid app or First aid practice classes.

SSVN hopes that first aid knowledge will spread to more Vietnamese people, with every family having at least one member who knows first aid.
